Eating at the beach can be quite the challenge! It’s difficult to eat while you’re sitting up in your beach chair as you will need to keep still so that your knees and legs can act as a table. It’s also difficult to sit down in the sand and eat as it can be uncomfortable and then you need to worry about sand particles getting into your food.
Thankfully, there are several different picnic blankets you can use for chowing down while you’re at the beach. I have an entire linens closet filled up with all different brands of picnic blankets. But, the very best one I currently own is the Grand Trunk parasheet beach picnic blanket.
This blanket is lightweight and compact. It can easily fit into a beach bag or purse. It measures 7ft by 7ft which means that it can provide enough space for an entire family or small group. The Grand Trunk beach picnic blanket is made from the same durable material that parachutes are made of. Because of this, it stays cool to the touch, dries very quickly, and does not allow for sand to stick to it. It also comes with four different sand pockets on each end of the blanket. These pockets are meant to be filled up with loose sand and used as anchor so that the blanket does not move or blow away. It also is water resistant and very easy to wash and dry in a normal washing machine and dryer.
The Grand Trunk parasheet beach picnic blanket fits into my tiny beach bag and it is as light as a feather. This is especially important to me as I already feel as if I am carrying a hundred pounds of gear to the beach every time I end up going. The less I need to carry, the better! This blanket stays in place, even on the windiest of days. The sand pockets really do their job and I have never had an issue with the blanket even coming close to blowing away in the ocean breeze.
The sand at the beach does not stick to the material, therefore, you needn’t worry about your food becoming a sandy mess. The sand literally slides right off. This picnic blanket is also water resistant. If some water happens to get on the blanket, it will dry almost immediately. The blankets come in cool and light colors. This is important because the darker the color of a fabric, the more sun it attracts. If you choose to use this blanket to lay on, you will not need to worry about sweating and the fabric getting to be too hot for your skin because it is a light color.
Also, it’s very easy to setup and put away. All you need to do is unwrap the blanket from being folded up, place it on the sand, put some excess sand in the pockets, and you’re good to go. Empty the sand from the pockets, roll it back up, and you’re ready for the blanket to be put away.
Lastly, it is extremely easy to clean. Simply throw it in the washer on the light cycle along with other garments. You can then either choose to let it air dry or put it on the tumble cycle in your dryer.
I really do not have any complaints about this product. However, if I had to choose one it would be that the Grand Trunk parasheet beach picnic blanket is very thin in texture. Because of this, the heat from the sand you place the blanket on may actually transpire through the fabric. This can cause your skin to be burnt from the sand and as we all know, this can be very uncomfortable. I have yet to experience this problem, but I do know a couple of friends who have complained about it.
Also, it does and can stain. Even though it is water resistant, it is not resistant to food stains, beverage stains, and sunblock lotion stains. To get rid of the stains, all you need to do is give the blanket a good washing.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this product to other beach goers who want a little space for eating or even lounging. It can also be used for other outdoor activities like camping, sports events, and to place on the lawn at concerts. It’s definitely a great all-around picnic blanket.
